Islamic Cooperation Commends Saudi-American Collaboration in Sudan’s Military Forces.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha welcomed the joint initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America to start preliminary talks between representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and representatives of the Rapid Support Force today in the city of Jeddah. The Secretary General praised this initiative, which is in line with the text of the published statement. On behalf of the Organization’s Executive Committee, at its last meeting on Wednesday, 3 May 2023, calling for an immediate end to the military escalation in a manner that preserves the capabilities and achievements of the Sudanese people, in light of the great loss of life and destruction of facilities and infrastructure, urging to the predominance of the language of dialogue , restraint and wisdom, and return as soon as possible to the negotiating table to continue the peace efforts to resolve the Sudanese crisis.

The Secretary General urged the negotiating delegation of both parties to work towards stabilizing the humanitarian truce and ensuring the delivery of humanitarian and medical assistance to those affected by the current difficult humanitarian situation in Sudan, as well as to work diligently to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire and give priority to the highest national interests of Sudan in such a way as to preserve its unity and State institutions and realize the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, peace, political stability and economic development.
