The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mr. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, confirmed that the General Secretariat, in cooperation with the International Academy of Islamic Fiqh, is seeking to send a second group of scientists to Afghanistan to continue the dialogue with the de facto authority to deprive Afghan girls and women of their basic rights to education, employment and social justice, which are a big priority for the Islamic world. It was in the speech of the Secretary-General before the emergency open meeting of the Executive Committee, to discuss the developments and the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan in the light of the recent measures imposed by the de facto authorities in Afghanistan through the closure of schools and universities for girls and women and the suspension of the work of women in non-governmental organizations, the national and international government.

In his remarks, the Secretary-General stressed that the organization was following the unfortunate developments in Afghanistan with deep concern, noting that he had conveyed messages to the de facto authorities through his Special Representative in which he underlined the importance of the government fulfilling its previous promises to open schools for girls in light of the solid and clear foundations of the true Islamic religion, which urges that the resolution of this issue will open the door wide for more constructive cooperation between the Government and Member States and openness to the world.
