Japan imposes new sanctions package on Russia and Belarus

In connection with the situation in Ukraine, the Japanese Foreign Ministry announced another new package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus.

According to the statement, new sanctions were imposed on 20 Russian citizens, 12 Belarusians, two Russian institutions and 12 Belarusian organizations. In addition to the ban on exports to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus and organizations involved in intelligence activities, including the armed forces.

Japan has also banned the export of oil refining equipment to Russia as part of its new sanctions package.

The new sanctions especially affected Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, 3 deputy heads of the presidential administration Alexei Gromov, Dmitry Kozak, Russian President of the Republic of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, businessmen Boris Rotenberg, Alisher Usmanov, journalist Vladimir Solovyov. and others.

Personal sanctions were also imposed on Viktor and Dmitry Lukashenko, press secretary of Belarusian President Natalia Esmont, Belarusian Interior Minister Ivan Kobrakov and others.

In early March, the Japanese government imposed sanctions on 49 Russian companies and institutions, including Rosoboronexport, Rostec, the Federal Security Service, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and a number of Russian-led officials.
