England captain Harry Kane had an X-ray of his right ankle yesterday ahead of his country’s second match in the 2022 World Cup second group in Qatar against the United States on Friday.
Kane suffered an injury in England’s match against Iran and also felt it in England training, prompting manager Gareth Southgate to insist that he undergo a thorough medical examination.
England top the Group C standings with 3 points against the United States and Wales, who drew 1-1, while Iran is fourth and last without points.
With 51 goals in 76 appearances, Kane needs two goals to equal Wayne Rooney’s record for England, who won the Golden Boot four years ago when England reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia but failed to score against Iran .
