Ukraine and Russia signed on Friday in the Turkish capital Istanbul two separate agreements with Turkey and the UN regarding the export of grain and agricultural products through the Black Sea, reports Agence France-Presse.
Kyiv refused to directly sign an agreement with Moscow, which has signed a similar agreement with Ankara and UN Secretary General António Guterres.
The European Union welcomed the agreement, calling for its “prompt implementation”.
“The Istanbul Agreement is a step in the right direction. We call for its speedy implementation,” EU Foreign Minister Josep Borrell tweeted.
