The Libyan prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday that three former ambassadors to Ukraine were detained on remand on charges of “financial corruption” during their tenure at the head of a mission in Kyiv between 2012 and 2019.
The prosecutor’s office said in a statement that the prosecutor’s office “looked at the cases of corruption contained in the reports on the inspection and inspection of administrative and financial work in Ukraine, and the investigations showed that there was sinful behavior in relation to public money allocated for treatment and education, and others – by three former heads of mission and some of their assistants. This was reported by the Libyan news agency WAL.
The department added that the detainees “caused serious damage to public money, as a result of which recipients of services suffered, and received hundreds of thousands of foreign currency for themselves and others in violation of the laws governing financial activities and control over the storage of public money. “
The prosecutor’s office stated that after investigating and questioning the three heads of the mission and presenting the available evidence to them, it was decided to detain them.
