Manchester City owners are interested in buying Italian Palermo

Several Italian media outlets reported on Thursday that the City Football Group, which owns dozens of clubs including Manchester City, is looking to acquire Palermo, who have just returned to the second division.

And Gazzetta dello Sport wrote that “negotiations for the sale of Palermo to the City Football Group are moving forward with great strides,” while Sky Sport believed that “a deal could be concluded in the coming days.”

She indicated that the president of the Sicilian club, businessman Dario Meri, could keep a small stake in the acquisition project, which has been discussed for several months. Meri was one of a group of investors who bought the club in 2019 after filing for bankruptcy and relegation to the fourth division.
