Manchester United, the English Premier League football club, announced on Thursday in a statement that it had completed the signing of Brazilian winger Anthony from Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam.
United added that they have signed 22-year-old Anthony to a five-year contract with an option to renew for another year.
And Anthony previously played under current United manager Dutchman Erich Ten Hag in the Dutch champions.
“This is an important moment in my career as I join one of the best clubs in the world,” Anthony said on United’s official website.
Last season, Anthony scored 12 goals and created 10 chances in 33 matches in all competitions for Ajax, who won the local league for the third consecutive season and reached the round of 16 of the Champions League.
He has also featured in nine international matches with his country, Brazil, starting in 2021 and scoring two goals.
Manchester United are 12th out of 20 Premier League teams with six points from their first four matchdays and will face Leicester City on Thursday at the latter’s home.
