An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 occurred today in the state of Oaxaca in southwestern Mexico. The US Geological Survey reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 425 km. There were no reports of property or human damage from the jolt.
The last major earthquake in Mexico dates back to September 2017, when it hit the capital Mexico City and the neighboring states of Murillo and Puebla, killing 370 people.
