The Russian police revealed the death of Andrey Butikov, inventor of the Sputnik V (Covid 19) coronavirus vaccine.
The Russian authorities confirmed that the crime was criminal, and Russian media reported that the man died after an argument with someone who tried to break into his apartment.
The Investigative Committee of Russia (Russian Investigative Committee) launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of the crime, and the local press reported that a 29-year-old man strangled the scientist with a belt before fleeing during an argument between them.
So far, all the merits of the case are not known, and the security authorities have not made any statements confirming the identity of the killer or the reasons that led to the murder.
Notably, Butikov is one of the 18 scientists who developed the Sputnik vaccine during the Corona epidemic.
