Today in Cairo started a scientific seminar “The role of producers of television and radio programs and ways to solve problems related to terrorism and national security in the media”, organized by the Arab University of Security Sciences. Naifa, as part of his work program for 2022 AD, in cooperation with the Media and Communications Sector – Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Information, from 28 to 30 November at the headquarters of the Arab League, in the presence of experts in the field of media and combating terrorism from 15 Arab countries, the Center for Political and Strategic Studies, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and the Imam Muhammad bin Saud University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Dean of Naif University for External Affairs Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Harfash explained that the workshop was organized as part of the implementation of Arab security strategies and plans, including the Arab media plan for raising security awareness and crime prevention, as well as interim plans on the provisions of the Arab Strategy for Combating Terrorism, approved by the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior. The scale of the strategic partnership between the institutions of joint action of the Arab States under the auspices of the League of Arab Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Information of the Arab States, in which many events were organized in the country of headquarters and abroad, where the university has the status of an observer member in the Council of Ministers of Information of the Arab States, what gave the university to the Arabs Recently developed a media strategy to combat terrorism and extremism.
He noted that the seminar aimed at identifying issues related to terrorism and national security in the media, as well as working with new variables in the creation of radio and television content and adapting it when presented through new digital media, in addition to developing media capabilities . participants from producers of TV and radio programs in solving the problems of terrorism and reviewing the programs of modern technologies with which content is created, as well as in highlighting the quality of programs that serve as moderation and solve the problems of terrorism, explaining the importance of international partnership in solving the problems of terrorism, as well as discussing appropriate mechanisms to support security cooperation with the media.
Al-Harfash emphasized that specialized security media is a science imposed by the development of organized crime models to integrate with the efforts of all media, social, educational and religious institutions of civil society to combat and prevent these criminal phenomena.
Al-Harfash expressed the hope that these efforts will contribute to drawing more attention to quality and its scientific, technical and media requirements for the development of media and security media in Arab countries, as well as the need for media institutions to adopt the concept (security is everyone’s responsibility) and include it into their materials in high quality technical form, as well as to work on the success of Arab media strategies regarding media, security, cultural and intellectual development, in addition to the importance of coordination between Arab security services and competent media authorities to ensure that the media comply with publishing rules and legislation, and issued legal materials, regulations and decisions necessary to prosecute media outlets that incite crime and corruption and spread malicious rumors.
For his part, the head of the Media and Communications Sector of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, praised the important and important role played by the Arab University of Security Sciences. Naifa has been playing in the field of counterterrorism for decades. through its research and work programs, emphasizing that the seminar takes place in the framework of the implementation of the relevant decisions of the Arab Summits. Communication and decision of the Council of Ministers of Information of the Arab States at its session No. 52, noting at the same time the constructive cooperation between the League of Arab States and the Arab University of Security Sciences. The Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime of the States of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Judge Dr. Hatem Ali, then delivered a speech in which, on behalf of the United Nations, thanked the League of Arab States and the strategic partner, the Naif Arab University of Security Sciences, for organizing a seminar on one of the most important issues on the world stage.
At the opening of the seminar, a visual presentation of the university was presented, telling about its 50-year journey and its contribution to support the joint Arab system of security actions.
Then the work of the first working sessions began with a report presented by the Dean of the College of Information and Communications of the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Al-Amir University, Professor, Doctor of Arab Ministers of the Interior, Major General Osama Khalaf on the topic “The role of the Arab security media in coordinating their actions with the producers of radio and television programs to address terrorism and security issues.”
The second session discussed the working papers of Prof. Dr. Fadel Belbeish of the Arab University of Security Sciences. Naif on “Media Framing Terrorism with Audiovisual Media: Pitfalls, Social Responsibility, Treatment and Solutions”. Gulf’s Director of Media Content Management then spoke. Radio and Television, Mr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Qaht presented a paper entitled “Arab Radio and Television Covers Terrorism and National Security Issues and Methods of Their Development”
Over the next two days, the workshop will review working papers with the participation of experts and researchers involved in “solving the problem of using the Internet and the media in the fight against terrorism and implementing a new global program to prevent and combat terrorism”, “solving media materials, Issued by Terrorist Organizations: Precautions for Their Use”, and “Media”. Audiovisual Media and National Security Issues: Finding a Balance between the Needs of Security and Freedom of the Media”, and the control of media terminology when considering the activities of terrorist groups, as well as the development of “the skills of media content creators in new media and their role in the fight against terrorism”, as well as “ methodology of digital content as a method of dealing with issues related to terrorism”, and “an analytical reading of the activities of terrorist organizations in the Middle East through the assessments of the UN Security Council Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Group”.
It should be noted that the Arab University of Sciences in the field of security named after. Naifa, as the scientific body of the Council of Arab Ministers of the Interior and the body charged with the implementation of the scientific part of Arab security strategies, strives through its academic, teaching and research programs and scientific activities to translate this interest in the topic of media security and its role in the fight against terrorism into a tangible reality Contributes to the strengthening of the concept of intellectual security, which is one of the priorities of university programs The university was the first to adopt the concept of “safety facilities” and the first to establish it. many topics of security and intellectual security. and the fight against terrorism, as well as through its academic programs with the aim of training qualified specialists in this field. It also contributed to the enrichment of specialized Arabic library of many studies and studies on the issue of media security in the Arab world in accordance with an objective and balanced media methodology in an effort to train specialists in a field of increasing importance in our time.
Within the framework of the media and their role in crime prevention and security in its comprehensive concept, the university discussed 99 master’s and doctoral theses in its departments, held 19 scientific meetings and conferences, organized 29 study programs and 15 lectures, in addition to producing 37 peer-reviewed scientific publications and 120 studies and articles through its scientific and periodicals, also participated in 11 regional and international events in this field.
