Recently discovered mass graves in Libya continues to reveal the extent of of Human tragedies and war crimes were committed in Civil war in North Africa. Recently, 11 more unidentified corpses found in Mediterranean coast city of Sirt.
While 376 bodies were found found in 94 different tombs in Libya so far only 70 of They have been identified.
General Authority for Search and identification of missing persons announced discovery of 11 bodies in newly found Mass grave in Sirt. With the discovery of the mass grave in Sirt regionthe number of graves found in Libya reached 94.
It was learned from regional sources that bone samples from corpses were sent to regional hospitals for examination by forensic specialists.
The United Nations previously reported that the situation in Libya regarding mass graves found in The country was so terrible and made Urgent call for criminals found.
Most of 94 mass graves in The country is located in The city of Tarhuna, a strategic town about 65 kilometers (41 miles) southeast of Libyan capital of Tripoli.
Tarhuna was under control of Kaniyat militia that got a reputation for It’s brutal tactics. Led by Kani, the militia initially swore allegiance to former government in Tripoli. But she switched sides in Civil war and line up with Eastern forces of military Coup leader General Khalifa Haftar in 2019.

Since 2020, the Libyan authorities have discovered 83 mass graves in different regions in Tarhuna, from which approximately 260 bodies were exhumed.
Tarhuna was former stronghold for Haftar, whose forces have been pushed back From Tripoli by government Turkey’s next forces support. On the other hand, Haftar was supported by Russia, France, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
