Fitness or retirement?!

It was also mentioned that the document, which was sent to the departments and sectors, contains an instruction from the commander of the ground forces to conduct incomplete officers with the rank of lieutenant commander, a weight check, emphasizing that those who cannot reduce their weight will be retired.

The directive also emphasized the examination of sick officers with a weak heart before enrolling them in courses for the underachievers, in order to avoid danger to their lives if they participated in the courses.

She also said that this examination would be carried out annually, indicating that the Office of Military Medical Affairs should draw up a schedule for the examinations. She pointed out that there was no room for complacency in the new decision of the Iraqi Army Chief of Staff and that everyone should abide by it.

No official response

But, despite all this fuss, the ministry did not publish an official comment on this matter in its official accounts, did not confirm the authenticity of the document or directives, either from near or far.

While opinion was divided between supporters and opponents, some were ridiculed on the grounds that the Defense Department hates obese people, while some supported the decision on military and practical grounds.

In addition, some also felt that the document, if true, was a kind of unacceptable mockery of obese people, especially with the decision to expel them.

It is noteworthy that the Iraqi Ministry of Defense is a national military institution that is responsible for protecting the country’s borders and protecting the people and their interests from external and internal threats in solidarity and cooperation with other state institutions, and consists of approximately 538,000 elements. under his banner.
