TikTok will soon allow video creators on its platform to restrict access to certain content to users over the age of 18. This new feature should allow these creators to make sure their videos are public corresponding, will be deployed worldwide in the coming weeks. Since 2022, such restrictions have already been possible for live videos. And so on, on can also limit the audience of short videos.

Nothing changes for the settlement.

But be careful, TikTok policy does not change. “To be clear, our policies continue to fully apply to creators using this feature, and we will be removing content that contains nudity and other violations of our Community Guidelines,” the post reads.on in online ad social. The idea is to simply allow creators to control the audience of their videos when they feel the content should not be viewed by those under 18. Otherwise, TikTok can act too. Network social has already developed a video rating system that it uses to prevent inappropriate content from appearing on the screens of users under the age of 18. “Because we have identified content as obscene or sexually explicit, we have banned teen accounts from viewing more than 1 million sexually explicit videos in the last 30 days alone,” the platform announced.

Managing Edge Videos Is a Difficult Task

But he also acknowledges that this identification is sometimes difficult. Indeed, if it is now easy for algorithms to detect nudity, managing content “at the limit” of acceptable or suspicious becomes more difficult. But to solve this problem, TikTok says it is investing in better automation. “Our goal is to quickly identify and remove inappropriate content from our platform and prevent borderline or suggestive content from being recommended or viewed on teen accounts,” explains TikTok. And according to him, he has already made progress in reducing the volume of this so-called “borderline” content. In other words, some videos shouldn’t be banned on TikTok, but the platform still needs to make sure those videos aren’t viewed by minors. And now, to help TikTok, creators can self-identify when their videos are inappropriate for people under 18.
