Saudi hopes for more positive results in World Cup matches have risen after the Greens’ historic 2-1 victory over Argentina on Tuesday.
Saudi Arabia played the match of a lifetime against the Latin American giants and pulled off a victory that reverberated around the world.
In a poll conducted by the Saudi Polling Center on a sample of 4,282 Saudis with a margin of error of 1.5 percent, it was found that 80 percent of people expected Saudi Arabia to beat Poland in Saturday’s match. At the same time, 15 percent voted for a draw, and 5 percent of respondents believed that Poland would win.
When asked about the outcome you “expect from the Saudi Arabia vs Mexico match”, 63 percent of respondents thought Saudi Arabia would win this match, with 27 percent voting for a draw and 10 percent of those polled thought Mexico would beat Saudi Arabia in this match.
The Saudi Opinion Polling Center tweeted: “It looks like Saudi Arabia’s performance against Argentina boosted the aspirations of most Saudis to beat Poland on Saturday and then Mexico.”
And the center continued: “This was shown by a survey conducted by the Saudi Center for Public Opinion Polls on Friday night among 4282 Saudis.”
Saudi Arabia will play Poland on Saturday at Education City Stadium at 5 pm host country time, 4 pm Mecca Al Mukarram time, and the green team’s match against Mexico will be on Wednesday at Lusail Stadium at 11 pm.
On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia delivered a stunning surprise by defeating world title contenders Argentina 2-1 in the first legs of the two teams in Group C of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
And after Argentina moved forward with a quick goal from star Lionel Messi from the penalty spot 10 minutes later and then canceled the mouse assistant referee technique for Team Tango’s second goal, it looked like the Greens and their coach Herve Renard were on their way to heavy defeat in the first meeting between Argentina and an Arab team in the history of the world championships.
However, the Saudis rose as the second half began and scored two goals in a row through Saleh Al-Shehri in the 48th minute and Salem Al-Dosari in the 53rd minute.
