Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the deaths of more than twenty Pakistanis in a migrant boat that sank off the coast of Italy. Last night, Sharif instructed the Pakistani Foreign Office to conduct a thorough investigation into this unfortunate incident and contact the Italian authorities about it.
For her part, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that her country’s authorities had requested more detailed information from the Italian authorities.
And Pakistani media reported yesterday that about 28 Pakistanis were among 59 who drowned when a boat carrying migrants to Europe hit rocks off Italy’s southern coast.
