Pakistani Police Raid Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Home

Hours after Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, leader of the Pakistani Tehreek-e-Insaf party, was put on trial in the capital Islamabad, today, Saturday, the Punjabi police finally reached his residence in the Zaman Park District, where 20 people arrested Police and Insaf Movement supporters recently clashed near the home of the former prime minister in Lahore, resulting in injuries on both sides when police attempted to arrest Khan, Pakistan’s Geo News reported.

However, this morning the police launched a comprehensive operation at Imran Khan’s residence to remove a tent that party supporters had set up around her, and the police said she came under direct fire and firebombing from inside the Khan’s residence in retaliation for her operation there.

Earlier in the day, Pakistani authorities shut down part of the capital, Islamabad, today, Saturday, and deployed thousands of security forces in preparation for a hearing that will see Khan stand trial on corruption charges after he managed to escape from detention for a week amid violent confrontations.

Khan, who was removed from office last year after a vote of no confidence, faces several corruption charges including confiscating government gifts provided by other countries. In the eastern city of Lahore, among his supporters, Khan agreed to face a hearing after the court rejected him. petition for the annulment of the decision to arrest, despite the resistance of his supporters.
