Earlier in the day, Pakistani authorities shut down part of the capital, Islamabad, today, Saturday, and deployed thousands of security forces in preparation for a hearing that will see Khan stand trial on corruption charges after he managed to escape from detention for a week amid violent confrontations.
Khan, who was removed from office last year after a vote of no confidence, faces several corruption charges including confiscating government gifts provided by other countries.
