Today, the National Assembly of Pakistan passed a law to toughen the punishment for insulting the household, mothers of believers and companions, may Allah be pleased with them.
The new law provides for an increase in the punishment for those who insult the companions, ahl al-bayt and mothers of believers, may Allah be pleased with them, from three years in prison to ten years or life imprisonment.
Sheikh Abd al-Akbar al-Shatrali stated that the previous punishment was not enough to deter those responsible for this crime, expressing the hope that the tougher punishment would lead to an end to the containment of elements who cursed and cursed prominent Islamic figures. publicly on some religious occasions or through social media.
