Former Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech became the third to leave Chelsea after his ownership was transferred to a consortium led by American businessman Todd Bohle as a result of leaving his advisory position.
US club president Bruce Buck and Canadian-Russian CEO Marina Garnovskaya also announced their departure from the West London club last week.
The Czech, who won 13 titles with Chelsea while defending his colors, was named technical adviser when he retired from playing in 2019.
“I am honored to have held this position at Chelsea for the past three years,” Cech said in a statement on the club’s website. “I feel it is time for me to retire.”
“I am pleased that the club is in a good position with the new owners and I am confident that it will be successful in the future both on and off the pitch.”
Pain will now temporarily serve as club president and sporting director. He said, praising Cech: “A key member of the Chelsea family has been amputated. We understand his decision to leave his post and thank him for his contribution as an advisor and his dedication to serving the club and its supporters.”
