Two people were killed and another injured when a private plane crashed in two crowded areas in the north of Ecuador’s second-largest city, Guayaquil, on Tuesday.
Mayor Cristina Vetteri said she witnessed the crash herself as she was two blocks away from the crash site. According to the available preliminary information about the accident, no damage was caused to residential buildings in the area. Rescuers cordoned off the crash site. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that the plane was flying between the cities of Manta, located 380 km southwest of the capital Quito, and the city of Guayaquil.
