Polish President Andrzej Duda congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the presidential election, but instead of the President of Turkey, he pointed to a football fan in his congratulations.

“Congratulations to Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his victory in the presidential election. This year we celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey and the centenary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship between the Polish and Turkish Republics. We are ready to cooperate in ensuring regional security, the development of NATO and peace in Europe,” Duda wrote.

The President of Poland posted this congratulation in Turkish on his page on the social network “Twitter”, but instead of linking to the account of the Turkish leader, Duda referred to the page of the Besiktas Istanbul football club fan. The congratulations were later removed, and a new post appeared on the page with the correct link.

Twitter users did not hesitate to comment on this incident.

A user named Piotr Lesky asked: “It took 35 minutes before your employees told you that there was a mistake in the address. What if you were told that a rocket was flying?

User Mierzeja quipped: “Bravo Andre, it works the second time.”

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Erdogan on his re-election as president in a letter addressed to the President of Turkey, and the leaders of Belarus, Qatar, Egypt, France, Armenia and many countries also sent their congratulations.

And the head of Turkey’s High Electoral Commission, Ahmed Yanar, announced on Sunday evening that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had won the second round of the presidential election.
