President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he had met with Speaker of the Parliament of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva, during which they discussed cooperation on the path of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO.
Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel: “We had a meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Portugal, Augusto Santos Silva. During which they discussed cooperation on the path of Ukraine’s integration into the European Union and NATO, as well as the priority needs of the Ukrainian forces.
The President of Ukraine added: “The start of negotiations on joining the European Union before the end of this year will be a strong stimulus for the Ukrainian society.”
He also expressed the hope that the Portuguese government and the Portuguese Parliament will be able to take “the necessary decisions to strengthen the capabilities of the Ukrainian forces on the front line.”
And since February 24, 2022, Russia has been conducting a special operation in Ukraine. According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ultimate goal of the operation is the liberation of Donbass and the creation of conditions that guarantee Russia’s security.
