Yesterday, protests and marches organized by a number of parties and organizations opposed to the rule of Tunisian President Kais Sayed, timed to coincide with the 12th anniversary of the revolution in Tunisia, took place in the capital of Tunisia. A group of opposition parties and a number of national organizations took to the streets led by the National Salvation Front , which includes the Ennahda movement and allied forces and personalities, as well as the Free Desturian Party, bloc parties, the Democratic Current, the Republican Party and Qutb, in protest against the policies of President Syed, which began on July 25, 2021, the day the government was dissolved Mechichi, the freezing of parliament and the suspension of the constitution by President Qais Syed.
Hours before these demonstrations, President Qais Said wandered down Habib Bourguiba Street on Friday evening and said that “there is no place for traitors and agents in the country”, adding that “those who accuse the country of having a police force and a dictatorship are those who wants to destroy it.”
Hours before the start of the protest marches, security forces were deployed on all the main streets in the center of the capital to ensure the safety of these demonstrations. The Ministry of the Interior urged the protesting parties to respect the specified routes and times, as well as the responsibility of setting up their followers to prevent quarrels , riots and the exchange of violence between them.
