Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the peace plan presented by Chinese President Xi Jinping to end the war in Ukraine. Putin, after talks with his Chinese counterpart, said: “We see that many positions in the peace plan presented by China are consistent with Russian ones. visions and can form the basis for a solution. “Peace, as soon as the West and Ukraine are ready for it.”
For his part, Xi said China adheres to “the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.” He stressed that China takes an objective and impartial position.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the two leaders discussed Ukraine for more than four hours on Monday. He added: “There was an opportunity to clear things up and they listened to each other and that’s the most important thing.”
Putin assured his Chinese counterpart that oil and gas supplies from Russia were secure in the long run and said work was underway to build a new pipeline between the two countries.
