The Qatari government said in a statement to the Associated Press on Sunday evening that “several protesters were arrested for violating public safety laws” after about 60 workers blocked an intersection in Doha.
In a statement, he added that the operating company had not paid part of the wages of its workers and that the Labor Department would pay “all back wages and benefits” to those affected. “The company was under investigation by the authorities for non-payment of wages prior to the protest incident, and further action is now being taken to resolve wage arrears,” the statement said.
