Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the latter is postponing a decision to formally fire Defense Minister Yoav Gallant due to ongoing security tensions.
Netanyahu announced last week that he had fired Galant after the minister urged the government to halt judicial reform.
Despite the statement, which sparked massive protests that prompted the government to accept Gallant’s recommendation, the secretary of defense remained at the head of his cabinet.
Television reports showed that negotiations were underway for Galant to apologize for the remarks and declare his loyalty to Netanyahu in order to maintain his position.
According to reports, Gallant is ready to apologize for the time of his speech, but not for its content.
