French player Hugo Gaston has been fined by the World Professional Tennis Association for unsportsmanlike conduct during the Madrid Open tennis tournament.

French player Hugo was fined $144,000 by the league for his behavior in the second round of the Madrid championship with 1,000 points.

And the Spanish newspaper Marca confirmed that this financial penalty is generally the highest in the history of tennis.

During the confrontation between Hugo and his Croatian colleague Borna Coric in the second round of the tournament, held on clay courts, on the 28th of last month, the Frenchman performed a trick that did not deceive the Association of Tennis Professionals.

In that match, Hugo trailed 3-5 in the first set and came close to losing it to a Croatian opponent, and the serve was on a Frenchman who couldn’t catch the ball after several exchanges. , and then took another ball out of his pocket and deliberately threw it on the ground, trying to convince the referee to return the point so as not to lose the group.

Absolutely huge fine. for Hugo Gaston for his shit in Madrid. fully off scale of normal disciplinary action by the PCA.rice.twitter.com/BwVsj2oWjWhttps://t.co/bmVC9hIZYY

And that match ended with the defeat of Hugo Gaston with two unanswered sets (6-3) and (6-3), who was eliminated from the tournament in the second round.

The amount of the fine imposed on Hugo exceeded the amount imposed on the Australian Nick Kyrgios in 2019 during the American Cincinnati Masters tournament.

Kyrgios was fined $113,000 when he decided to leave the stadium in a match against Russia’s Karan Khachanov and go to the bathroom, despite not having permission from Irish referee Fergus Murphy at the time.

Being in the corridor leading to the locker rooms, Kyrgios broke two rackets, after which he returned to the field and addressed the referee with obscene phrases.
