Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s star and top scorer, has confirmed his continuation with the Reds next season 2022-2023.

Mohamed Salah’s contract with the English Premier League runner-up club runs until 30 June 2023 and he will be eligible to sign for any club for free in January next year.

At a press conference before meeting Real Madrid in the Champions League final scheduled for May 28, Salah denied rumors of his departure this summer.

Salah added: “Now I don’t want to talk about a contract, but I confirm that I will continue with the team next season.”

Salah continued: “Right now I’m focused on the game against Real Madrid, I want to win the Champions League again, this week is very important for us and I’m not thinking about renewing my contract right now.”

Mohamed Salah is waiting for the end of the current season against Real Madrid to resume negotiations on a contract extension with Liverpool to get extra years at Anfield.

The Egyptian star made history for his club and the English Premier League by winning the Golden Boot 3 times in a Liverpool jersey and finishing 20th on the Premier League scorers list with 120 goals.

For his part, Tom Werner, the owner and president of the Liverpool club, said in statements to the American newspaper The Athletic that his club’s management revealed a clear desire to continue the careers of Mohamed Salah, as well as his Senegalese colleague Sadio Mane. .

Werner continued: “I would like to keep the contract renewal negotiations confidential, but we have made it clear that we want Salah and Mane to continue.”

English newspapers have been reporting over the last period confirming Salah’s desire to receive an estimated £400,000 a week for a contract extension, nearly double his current salary.

Speaking about the salary structure at Liverpool and the possibility of opening the budget, Werner said: “Football is going through a difficult period right now, we are competing with very successful clubs, but I am proud of what we have achieved and now we can only talk about the Champions League final.” .
