Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has returned to the national team with his new Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria in preparation for matches against clubs in Niger and Liberia later this month.
Salah has been absent from the Pharaohs’ last two matches, the results of which led to the sacking of national team coach Ihab Galal after losing 2-0 to Ethiopia in the second round of Group D of the African Nations qualifier in Côte d’Ivoire and against South Korea 1 -4 in a friendly match.
The Egyptian Federation overthrew Galal just two months after receiving the assignment, replacing the Portuguese Carlos Queiroz in this post.
Egypt are preparing to qualify for the African Cup of Nations final in Côte d’Ivoire next year and are in last fourth place with three points behind leaders Ethiopia, Malawi and third Guinea.
Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneni is out with an injury, as is Pyramids player Nabil Emad “Donga”, who was injured at training camp in Alexandria last Wednesday.
Vitoria called up the goalkeepers: Mohamed El-Shennawi, Ahmed El-Shennawi and Mohamed Sobhi.
– Defence: Karim Fouad, Omar Jaber, Ali Jabr, Ahmed Hegazy, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Osama Jalal, Mahmoud Hamdi “Al Wensh”, Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Hamdi and Ahmed Abul Photouh.
