The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is still a little more than a week away from retail availability, but that doesn’t mean units aren’t being tinkered with. While the rest of us await retail devices, an exciting function appears to be uncovered with the top-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra. The newly discovered feature allows users to skip the battery while charging their phone, conserving battery health and decreasing heat buildup during intensive use.
According to YouTube channel NL Tech, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra includes a feature named ‘Pause the USB Power Delivery’ that can be selected in the Game Launcher menu to prevent the charger from topping up the phone’s internal battery when attached to a Power Delivery charger. As a result, it decreases heat buildup on the phone, making it more comfortable to use when playing games.
Another advantage is that it potentially extends battery life because it is not constantly charging while in use. Of course, there are some requirements for this mode, the most important of which is that the phone’s battery is at least 20% charged. But that is a small concern because the benefits to the user and the phone are pretty astounding.
While this is undoubtedly wonderful news, 9to5Google has discovered that the feature is not in their possession of Galaxy S23 series phones.
