Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia opened the doors of its Saudi Blue Pavilion on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations World Ocean Conference co-hosted by the Governments of Portugal and Kenya in Lisbon from 27 June to 1 July under the slogan: Science-led scaling up of the oceans and innovation to achieve Goal 14: Evaluation, partnerships and solutions.
The Kingdom gives the Red Sea priority and great attention, plays a leading role in the conservation of nature, its unique and prosperous habitats and ecosystems, and works to provide every opportunity and effort to better protect, renew and contribute to it, and to translate this knowledge in life. reality and positive steps.
The Kingdom has previously announced several major commitments as part of its broad plans to build resilience, including increasing the proportion of marine protected areas to 30%, as well as announcing an initiative to plant 100 million mangroves by 2030.
These goals align well with the Saudi Vision 2030 as well as the economic and social development plan. This strategy is designed to capitalize on and showcase the Kingdom’s greatest strengths, building on its pioneering role at the heart of the Arab and Islamic world, and help create a more resilient economy through stronger new trade and cultural relationships with the world.
The second-of-its-kind summit at the United Nations Ocean Conference aims to inspire the world to restore marine life, with a focus on the critical role of the ocean in stabilizing climate systems.
