Starfield: Scheduled Landing Without Delay

Times like the ones we are currently experiencing are rare. Just as players are barely recovering from Baldur’s Gate 3 or are still immersed in it, another potential contender for game of the year is about to arrive: Starfield. This Xbox Series / PC exclusive, developed by Bethesda, is set to be released on September 6th. At first glance, this release date could have set up a direct clash with the PC version of Baldur’s Gate 3, which explains why Larian Studios may have decided to advance the release of their game. And their decision seems justified.

Because yes, there would have been a clash between these two highly anticipated PC role-playing games. However, Starfield will not be delayed, as confirmed by Bethesda. The game has officially gone gold. For those unfamiliar with the term, “going gold” refers to the period when the game’s code is finalized, ready to be copied onto other discs for distribution.

The Other Aspects of Starfield’s Ambition

As mentioned in the tweet above, Starfield can now be preloaded on Xbox Series X|S and PC, but only through the Windows Store. This advantage is limited to those who pre-ordered the game and/or subscribed to Xbox Game Pass. Steam users will have to wait until August 30th. The game’s ambition is already evident in its size: the official game page states that it requires 125 GB of free disk space. This size may increase slightly to around 140 GB on the Xbox console and on PC via the Windows Store.

While this is still below the 150 GB mark of Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield joins the group of games that exceed 100 GB. We have seen this trend with titles like Warzone and more recently with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game’s massive content includes hundreds of planets to explore and unprecedented dialogues and narratives from Bethesda. To learn more about the Starfield lore, there is a timeline that we highly recommend reading before the game’s release on September 6th, available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and the Xbox Game Pass.
