Tomorrow, the actual steps will begin and the entry into force of the agreement between the legitimate government and the Houthis on the exchange of prisoners between them, with the completion of the first agreement on the release of detainees, which will last three days. The official representative of the government delegation in the negotiations on prisoners and abductees, a member of the negotiating delegation and Deputy Minister for Human Rights Majed Fadael, in a statement to Al-Madina, said: “The first day of the prisoner exchange process will be carried out by flights between Aden and Sanaa, on the second day from Sana’a, Riyadh, Sana’a, Mocha and vice versa, and on the third day from Sana’a.Marib and vice versa, after completion of all preparations for the implementation of the agreed exchange. Fadael confirmed that former Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Mahmoud al-Subaihi and Maj. Gen. Nasser Mansour will lead the prisoner exchange on Thursday, and other prisoner exchange operations will follow between the parties. The legitimate government and the Houthis announced last month that they had reached the Swiss city of Bern, under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to release more than 880 prisoners after a series of negotiations between them. Under the agreement, the Houthis will release 181 prisoners, including Saudis and Sudanese, in exchange for 706 detainees held by government forces. And on Saturday, Abdul Qadir al-Murtada, head of the Houthi National Committee for Prisoners Affairs, announced the arrival of 13 prisoners at Sana’a International Airport in exchange for a previously released prisoner. And in the latest major exchange, which took place in October 2020, “more than 1,050 prisoners were released and returned to their regions or countries,” according to the International Committee of the Red Cross.dv
