10 people were killed in a shooting at a mall in Buffalo, New York, Mayor Byron Brown confirmed on Saturday, and Brown said the shooter had been arrested. And who was described as not from the area, and the number of casualties has not yet been released, and Brown added that the shooter came to Buffalo from outside the area.
The mall is located north of the city, in a predominantly African-American neighborhood, and police said earlier that the perpetrator, a white male, was heavily armed and opened fire in the mall’s parking lot.
And the Buffalo shooter may have had far-right ideas. A U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigator at the scene said he was investigating the incident as a hate crime and racially motivated violent extremism case.
“I’m on my way to Buffalo to help respond to today’s shooting and my heart goes out to the families of the victims and to everyone affected by this horrific and vile act of violence,” New York Gov. Katie Hochhol tweeted.
It is noteworthy that Buffalo is the second largest city in the state after New York. The city of about 280,000 people is located just a few kilometers from Niagara Falls.
