The Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Quentin Tarantino’s fifth film, Boulevard of Death, released in 2007, pays homage to the exploitation cinema of the 70s. While some critics praised its precise recreation of the era, including retro cars and character outfits, the public reception was not always positive. Rotten Tomatoes scores the film at 67% for critics and 72% for spectators, the lowest in Tarantino’s filmography.
The film aimed to authentically recreate the atmosphere of B-movies, but it didn’t resonate with all viewers due to its excessive violence and outdated treatment of women. Critics accused the film of promoting domestic violence against women, particularly in the first half. Although violence has always been a part of Tarantino’s work, Boulevard of Death didn’t gain favor due to its darker side. If you want to form your own opinion, you should watch it soon as it will be removed from Netflix on October 31.
Netflix in the Rearview Mirror
As you may know, Netflix regularly adds and removes content from its catalog. Unfortunately, Boulevard de la Mort will no longer be available for streaming from October 31. However, you can still enjoy other great Tarantino films like Django Unchained and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which should remain in the catalog for a while. Additionally, Tarantino’s tenth and final film, The Movie Critic, is expected to be released in 2024. The plot of the film is set in 1970s Los Angeles and will feature a female lead character. Will it be a revenge against Boulevard de la Mort? Only time will tell.
