Avalanche of bad news

So September 2023 turned out to be a very bad month for the social network, which saw a 14% drop in traffic worldwide compared to the same period last year. In detail, the fall in France is 13.4%. It is even more pronounced in the USA and Australia – 19 and 17.5%, respectively. The platform cannot be saved by mobile visits. Its audience fell by 17.8%. The same trend is observed on the advertising portal X. The latter allows companies to prepare their advertising. And the least I can say is that they are not in a hurry: the traffic of this service fell by 16.5% over the year. Finally, the only indicator that has increased on the service is traffic on Elon Musk’s account: +96%. Lacking ego, the entrepreneur would modify the algorithm so that his profile is more noticeable. How can these results be explained? If I can’t make up my mind, the hypothesis is that users are tired of the spread of misinformation and toxicity on this social network should not be excluded. The EU also demands responsibility on this issue, and let’s see what measures will be taken to meet these requirements. Meanwhile, Internet users are looking for alternatives, and the recent successes of Mastodon and Bluesky are proof of this. Remember that bad news keeps coming for X. We recently explained to you how a rebrand planned by Elon Musk turned out to be harmful. According to a report from AppFigures, there were 13 million downloads in July 2023, the month of the name change, up from 11 million downloads in August and only 9 million in September. Experts also note that X’s net revenue amounted to 4.8 million dollars in September, almost a million dollars less than in August. For your part, are you still as active in X as before? Write to us in the comments.
