The former mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Garniki Khachaturian became the new President of Armenia, replacing Armen Sarkissian, Anadolu Agency (AA) reported on Thursday.
Khachaturian failed for win enough votes in the first round, with 69 in to favor.
Opposition factions boycotted the parliamentary election, reports say.
He was the only candidate to stand as a candidate car opposition parties said they would not nominate candidates.
