At the start of his speech, His Highness expressed appreciation for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the effective role of the Republic of Senegal in West Africa and its Presidency of the African Union in 2022 AD, emphasizing the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting common interests. with African countries and expand cooperation in the areas of security, energy, trade, investment and logistics services. Enhancing the role of the private sector in finding investment opportunities that will benefit countries and their people.
His Highness reaffirmed the Kingdom’s continued support for the principles of international legality aimed at maintaining international peace and security, strengthening joint cooperation based on mutual respect for the sovereignty and independence of states, resolving disputes by peaceful means, preventing escalation and the use of force or the threat of force.
His Highness the Minister for Foreign Affairs also referred to the Kingdom’s position in support of all international efforts aimed at finding a solution to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis in order to protect life and property, as well as preserve regional and international security and stability. His Highness renewed the Kingdom Call and his willingness to mediate to achieve this.
In his speech, His Highness said: “The Kingdom attaches great importance to addressing common and most pressing global issues such as food security, supply chain barriers and climate change, and recognizes the importance of addressing climate change challenges.” changes and the need to address their negative impacts, it pays great attention to achieving the goals of the Paris Convention on Climate Change.
He added: “In order to reinforce the Kingdom’s leadership in this area, the Kingdom has launched the Green Saudi Arabia and Green Middle East initiatives to support national and regional efforts in this regard and has announced ambitious targets to diversify energy sources. , improve the efficiency of their production and consumption and put forward quality initiatives to protect the environment, as well as promote sustainable afforestation, reduce emissions by 278 million tons per year by 2030 and achieve zero carbon emissions by 2060 through a carbon circular economy approach. and in line with the Kingdom’s development plans and ensure its economic diversification. The Green Middle East Initiative will hold its second summit this month. Next November in Sharm el-Sheikh, on the sidelines of the Climate Change Conference (COP 27) The Kingdom welcomes all the active contributions of African countries, using their experience of representation and exchange of views, to achieve the goals of the initiative and maximize its results.
His Highness noted the Kingdom’s welcome to the establishment of the Focus Group on Africa as part of the international coalition against ISIS to counter the growing threat of its spread on the African continent, as well as the support of the group’s efforts and all efforts aimed at combating this scourge and uprooting its roots.
His Highness expressed the Kingdom’s interest in the African continent and promoting development in its countries, which are full of huge investment opportunities: “The State Investment Fund is working together with major Saudi companies to establish more trade and investment partnerships in the African continent. in the field of energy, mining, communications, nutrition and other areas.
