Alexandre Dumas’s 1844 book has been turned into at least 50 movies and TV shows worldwide, and the 30th movie is about to come out. What’s new about this version of The Three Musketeers? Martin Bourboulon, a French director, is making a new version of the story that will be a two-part tale and add a new character named Hannibal, who will be the first Black musketeer in French history. Louis Anniaba, the prince of Assinie, was real, and Hannibal is based on him.

The Three Musketeers is a two-part movie series that was aired in France by Pathe. The first part, Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan, comes out on April 5, 2023, for Easter. The second part, The Three Musketeers: Milady, comes out on December 13, 2023, for Christmas. You can see D’Artagnan in cinemas in the US on Friday, December 8, 2023.
