Yesterday, Wednesday, the US State Department said that the examination confirmed that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was infected with the coronavirus, adding that he had only mild symptoms.
The agency’s statement added that Blinken, who received a full Covid-19 vaccination as well as a revaccination, did not see President Joe Biden in person for several days, and therefore Biden is not considered a contact.
“The minister is self-isolating at home and will work online. He looks forward to returning to the ministry and resuming his full duties and travel as soon as possible,” the statement said.
He added that on Tuesday Blinken’s tests were negative, but they turned positive on Wednesday.
Blinken attended the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington over the weekend, a huge gathering that was attended by thousands of people, including prominent political and media figures.
