We’re now looking at what Netflix has in store for the future, around a year and a half after it began providing games on the site. The firm has 40 new games planned for release in 2023, and more than 80 others are already being worked on internally or with partners. Although we have yet to learn of every title coming to the platform, Netflix today gave us a deeper look at a few titles we can anticipate.
The streamer will soon have access to everything from puzzle games to role-playing games to narrative experiences. Two new games are coming out this month: Highwater, out now, and Terra Nil, which comes out on March 28. In the narrative-driven adventure game Highwater, you must try to board a rocket to Mars to escape an inundated planet.
With the help of mountains, rivers, oceans, and other natural features, you may design your environment and ecology in the meditative game Terra Nil. When you’ve finished creating your ideal planet, Terra Nil’s “Appreciate mode” enables you to unwind and relish it.
Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace, the second of three games developed specifically for Netflix by Ubisoft, will be released on April 18. Valiant Hearts: Going Home, the first of those, was released in January. The Mighty Quest for Epic Treasure by Ubisoft and Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace are set in the same world.
A new Too Hot to Handle game based on the streamer’s well-known dating show is also in the works. Super Evil Megacorp is creating an exclusive yet-to-be-announced game based on an upcoming Netflix release.
For Netflix, games are still a relatively new offering. Only 23% of US video game customers indicated they loved Netflix Games in a December Statista research, and only 66% of users realized the company had games.
The firm has only so far released 55 games. More games, a larger range of games, and the idea that more games will all contribute to expanding the brand’s gaming footprint. Around 100 games are now under development.
