Donald Trump said he “sees no reason” to return to Twitter after Elon Musk, the company’s new owner, announced the lifting of the ban on the former US president.
Elon Musk announced on Saturday evening that Trump’s Twitter account would be reinstated, and minutes later, the former president’s profile on the platform was unblocked.
Trump appeared on videotape during a meeting of the leadership of the Jewish Republican Coalition, saying he “sees no reason” to return to the podium.
The news comes just days after Trump announced his 2024 presidential candidacy after being banned from Twitter amid accusations of inciting violence during the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
“They have a lot of problems,” Trump said, noting that the platform is aware of the proliferation of bots and fake accounts, and the problems Twitter is facing are “incredible.”
Yesterday, the President of the United States issued a statement about the poll and the possibility of a recount, saying, “Vote now, but don’t worry, we’re not going anywhere.” Referring to the platform he launched after he was banned from Twitter.
Before the ban was lifted, Musk launched a poll on his personal Twitter account on Friday asking users if he should “bring back former President Trump.”
More than 15 million users took part in the survey, which showed there were 51.8 percent more supporters of Trump’s return than announcing that Musk would return the ex-president’s account.
