Tunisia: polls open for referendum on new constitution

Polling stations in Tunisia opened their doors to receive voters to vote in the referendum on the draft of a new constitution, and the Electoral Commission announced that the polling stations were ready to receive voters.

And this process is taking place under strict security surveillance, with thousands of security forces and the army guarding voting and counting centers across the country.

Yesterday, the country entered a period of pre-election silence, in which it is forbidden to conduct any kind of election campaigning.

According to what was announced by the head of the Independent High Authority for Elections, Farouk Bouaskar, the participation rate in the 2022 referendum on its second day in six constituencies outside Tunisia until six o’clock on Sunday evening, Tunisia times, did not exceed 6.5% of official voters .

Boiscar stressed that the constitutional referendum process will begin at 6 am local time and that the announcement of the results of the vote will be conducted with full transparency.

In the same context, Tunisian expatriates continued to vote outside the country on the draft of the new constitution.

The Independent High Electoral Body stated that there were no serious problems or difficulties in the community in voting.

She added that the process of voting abroad will continue today, Monday, in 46 countries and more than 600 centers, and that the centers will be closed at ten o’clock in the evening, each country’s time.
