According to Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, since Sunday, Turkish aircraft and artillery have attacked about 500 targets of Kurdish militants in northern Iraq and Syria.
According to the minister, “at the moment, 471 targets have been hit and 254 terrorists have been neutralized” as part of Operation Sword Claw against the positions of Kurdish militants.
In turn, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that Turkey has the right to solve its problems in northern Syria, while the Turkish armed forces continue a major air operation against an armed Kurdish group in the region.
In a speech to MPs of the ruling Justice and Development Party in parliament, Erdogan pointed to the possibility of a ground strike against the Kurdish YPG in Syria after the escalation of retaliatory strikes along the Syrian border in recent days, and said: “Our operations using aircraft, artillery and drones – this is just the beginning. We will continue the air operations without stopping and we will enter the territory of the terrorists at the time we see fit,” adding: His country will start the operation of the ground forces there at the right time.”
