Turkish President Invites Elon Musk to Build Tesla Factory in Turkey

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has extended an invitation to Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, to build his next Tesla factory in Turkey, according to reports from the country’s state media on Monday.

Erdogan met with Musk on Sunday while visiting the United States for the United Nations General Assembly. The meeting took place at the Turkish House in Manhattan.

During their discussion, Erdogan highlighted the success of Turkey’s electric car, Togg, and the entry of Tesla into the Turkish market. He urged Musk to consider establishing Tesla’s seventh factory in Turkey, as reported by the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.

In addition to the factory proposal, Erdogan also expressed interest in collaborating with Musk’s aerospace company, SpaceX, and Turkey’s space program. He extended an invitation to Musk to attend Teknofest, Turkey’s largest aviation, aerospace, and technology festival scheduled between late September and the end of October this year.

Musk responded by acknowledging that several Turkish suppliers are already working with Tesla and mentioned that Turkey is among the top contenders for his next factory location, according to Anadolu. HaberTusba has reached out to the Turkish communications directorate for the complete statement.
