FIFA President Gianni Infantino confirmed on Sunday in Costa Rica that security at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where nearly two million people are expected, will be “very tight” because all the fans will be in the same city.
“All the fans from all over the world are invited to celebrate and watch the games, but if someone wants to come and start a fight or something, obviously they will not be welcome and we will all be tough,” said Infantino. at the press conference after the opening of the football stadium in San Jose, because the safety of everyone is the most important thing.
“Nearly two million people from all over the world” are expected to attend the global football wedding from November 20 to December 18 in the country of 2.6 million, according to a FIFA spokesperson.
Infantino felt that the issue of safety was the most important, since “we will have fans from all countries in one city, not just fans from two countries that will one day face each other, but everyone will be there all the time.”
“Preparation, of course, is not easy. It’s not easy, there are many issues to consider in terms of security, accommodation, transportation and every possible and conceivable effort. To have a party for everyone.”
Infantino concluded that the World Cup in Qatar “will be like a child going to Disneyland for the first time to have fun and watch the games. It will be a unique experience for football fans.”
