Once again, American boxing legend Mike Tyson has returned to the top of the world’s search engines after photos of him sitting in a wheelchair and holding a crutch in his hand circulated, and the pictures sparked public speculation about the nature of his illness and health condition.
This happened a few weeks after his statements, which sympathized with the audience, in which he said: “I will die soon”, explaining that money means nothing to him.
Tyson suffers from “sciatica” in his lower back, a problem that almost two years ago left him resting for weeks when he couldn’t get out of bed, US media reported.
Also, the same problem haunted him at the end of his professional career and was one of the reasons that prompted him to retire 17 years ago.
According to a report released by TMZ, a celebrity news site, Tyson is suffering from a sciatica attack, an illness that affects the life of an athlete like him.
Tyson made his professional debut in 1985, defeating only 18-year-old Hector Mercedes, quickly gained fame for his ferocious and intimidating style and became the first heavyweight boxer to simultaneously hold the WBA, WBC and IBF titles.
Tyson retired after losing to Kevin McBride in 2005 and won 50 of his 58 pro fights before retiring.
He filed for bankruptcy in 2003 despite reportedly earning over $30 million from many of his fights and $300 million over his career.
