Ukraine’s Minister of Regional Reintegration Irina Vereshuk announced that she has called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to open humanitarian corridors to evacuate Kyiv and its suburbs, as well as the cities of Volnovakia and Severodonetsk.
“We called on the International Committee of the Red Cross on Tuesday to open humanitarian corridors to evacuate the population from the Kyiv-controlled cities of Volnovakia and Severodonetsk in Donbass, where the military operation continues,” he said. “
He added: “In Kyiv and its suburbs, we once again call on the Red Cross to do everything in its power to open a humanitarian gateway to evacuate residents”.
“Civilians in Kiev can freely leave the city along the Kyiv-Vasylkov highway,” said Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Defense.
He stressed that “this road is open and safe” and that “Russian forces bombarded military targets only with high-precision weapons.”
