The Original Science Fiction Comedy Series “Upload” Returns for Season 3

The original science fiction comedy series Upload, produced by Greg Daniels of The Office and Parks and Recreation, premiered on Prime Video in 2020. The show explores a world where most things have been converted into digital form, such as self-driving cars and handheld mobile phones. However, one area where real-world technology has not yet made significant progress is the concept of a digital afterlife, which is central to the story of Upload.

Plot and Characters

In the upcoming third season of Upload, the story continues with Nathan, Nora, and others fighting to end the corporation Freeyond before too much damage is done. Nathan, the series’ primary protagonist, has returned to the ranks of the living after being uploaded to Lakeview, a digital afterlife. However, he is now a time bomb due to an exceedingly high-stakes gamble that transferred his consciousness back into his body from the real world.

Nathan and Nora, his “angel” and guide in Lakeview, work through the challenges of their new relationship while also dealing with the possibility of Nathan’s death. Ingrid, Nathan’s ex-girlfriend, uploaded a backup duplicate of him in Lakeview, making things more difficult for the honest Nathan but giving Ingrid another chance to reignite their romance.

Meanwhile, Aleesha climbs higher up the Horizen ladder, and Luke encounters new challenges without the familiar presence of Nathan in Lakeview with him.

Guide to the Cast

Robbie Amell as Nathan

Robbie Amell portrays Nathan, the former programmer and primary protagonist of Upload. After a severe vehicle accident leaves him critically ill, he is uploaded to Lakeview, where he adapts to the afterlife with the help of his “angel” Nora. However, he remains deeply devoted to his ex-girlfriend Ingrid, even as he uncovers the malicious intent behind his murder and the conspiracy behind Freeyond.

Andy Allo as Nora

Andy Allo plays Nora, an “angel” employed by Horizen who becomes Nathan’s close friend and guide in Lakeview. Nora faces danger as she helps Nathan uncover the truth behind his murder and navigate the world of Lakeview. In the third season, Nora continues to work towards ending the activities of Freeyond and its conspirators.

Allegra Edwards as Ingrid

Allegra Edwards portrays Ingrid, Nathan’s ex-girlfriend who supports him financially in Lakeview. Ingrid is determined to keep Nathan’s love and even uploads herself to the afterlife to be with him. However, her actions, including wearing a “hug suit” to live a virtual reality existence with Nathan, cause friction between them. Ingrid also deals with her father’s nefarious deeds and tries to distance herself from them.

Kevin Bigley as Luke

Kevin Bigley plays Luke, Nathan’s self-proclaimed best buddy in Lakeview. Luke helps Nathan navigate the ins and outs of Lakeview and stands by his side throughout the series. In the third season, Luke faces loneliness as he must accept a job in the Grey Zone to move to Lakeview.

Owen Daniels as A.I. Guy

Owen Daniels portrays A.I. Guy, a character in the series with an artificial intelligence persona.

The third season of Upload is set to premiere on October 20, and fans can look forward to more comedy and science fiction as the characters continue their journey in the digital afterlife of Lakeview.
