Apple made it possible to edit or unsend recently sent iMessage with iOS 16. Similar edit-after-sending capabilities are also available in Telegram. WhatsApp will be the next.

Users must tap and hold on to a chat bubble and choose the Edit option to edit a sent message. WaBetaInfo reports that WhatsApp users can anticipate being able to edit a message for up to 15 minutes after sending it. This is the same timeframe Apple grants iMessage users who want to amend transmitted messages. Telegram, in contrast, gives users 48 hours to complete their changes.

A future upgrade to the WhatsApp app will give some beta testers access to edit sent messages. Since the functionality is still being developed, the release date for the general public has yet to be determined.

WhatsApp is rumored to be experimenting with private newsletters in other Meta-related developments. Code referencing the function, which is defined as a private area in the Status tab that enables users to share content with followers, was uncovered by WABetaInfo in a recent Android beta.

Picture-in-picture functionality for WhatsApp started to roll out last week, allowing users to continue their video call in a tiny window while using another iPhone feature.
